Police are searching for five individuals in connection with the armed theft at a jewelry store in Smithtown.

The Suffolk County police are on the hunt for five people suspected of carrying out an armed heist of a jewelry store in Smithtown on Wednesday.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., a woman donning a face covering was allowed access to the L.I. Gold Mine on West Main Street.
According to the police report, the female then held the door open while four masked people, two of whom were brandishing pistols, entered the premises.
The police have reported that the owner and an employee were subject to an armed hold-up; the perpetrators destroyed the showcase compartments and stole a variety of jewellery.
The five suspects drove away in a minivan, which they left in the proximity, before separating and making an escape in two additional cars. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
