Yonathan Ramirez Argueta, who is 28 years old and is from Central Islip, admitted his guilt in regard to various sexual offenses involving children in the Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, February 8.

Prosecutors alleged that Ramirez Argueta had inflicted abuse on the youngster starting in early 2018 when she was five and continued until the 9-year-old revealed it to someone in April of 2022.

Immediately after the minor revealed the abuse, Ramirez Argueta attempted to flee to Georgia and allegedly attempted to procure a one-way ticket to Central America. As a result, he was apprehended at the airport and was subsequently extradited to Suffolk County.

District Attorney Raymond Tierney of Suffolk County declared in a statement that no youth should ever be exposed to such maltreatment, especially not for the period of four long years in the early stages of their life.

This accused individual chose a vulnerable, blameless child to commit an unpardonable act. A finding of guilt saves the survivor from being compelled to give evidence and ought to make it clear that any form of sexual abuse on minors in Suffolk County will not be tolerated.

On Wednesday in court, Ramirez Argueta admitted his guilt of the following violations:

The course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child – first-degree (violent felony),

The course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child – second-degree (violent felony), and

Endangering the Welfare of a Child (misdemeanor).

It has been anticipated that he will be handed down a 12-year prison sentence, followed by 18 years of supervised release. He is due to be sentenced on Wednesday, March 22.
