A 21-year-old was tragically struck and killed while crossing a busy street in Rocky Point.

At 9:30 p.m. Monday night, Jan. 30, officials in Rocky Point were alerted to a collision on Route 25A near Rocky Point Road involving a car and a pedestrian, as indicated by the Suffolk County Police.

Investigators reported that Sharif Murray, from Rocky Point, was hit while trying to cross 25A by a Subaru Forester. After being struck, Murray was pronounced dead on the spot.

The Shoreham couple, both in their seventies, walked away uninjured, per police reports. Their vehicle, however, is currently undergoing safety inspections following the incident.
