Suffolk police: Arrest of man with 11 felonies, involving slashing car tires in Ronkonkoma
Authorities apprehended a man on Sunday in connection to a series of tire slashings at a hotel in Ronkonkoma.
Teshawn Farris appeared in court to answer to 11 felonies related to a series of crimes.
Prosecutors allege that last month Farris created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation at the Clarion Hotel by slashing tires on multiple employees' vehicles, pulling the hotel fire alarm 20 times, damaging the fire alarm, and menacing an employee with a knife.
Prosecutors did not state the reason for the 26-year-old Wheatley Heights man supposedly aiming for the hotel employees.
The prosecutors did not disclose the reason behind the 26-year-old Wheatley Heights man's purported targeting of the hotel personnel.
Law enforcement initiated their inquiry when the targets learned that their automobiles had had their tires punctured on December 24th. Prosecutors claimed that five of Farris's injured parties were hotel personnel.
Many of the automobiles that had been damaged were owned by individuals who paid the hotel car park fee while flying out of the close-by MacArthur Airport.
According to authorities, Farris went back to the crime location the next day and is purported to have punctured additional tires. A caller alerted law enforcement and very soon after, Farris was apprehended.
Besides the supposed offenses at the hotel, authorities indicted Farris for scratching a Tesla vehicle parked at the Ronkonkoma train station, causing $3,850 worth of damage.
Farris pleaded not guilty to a slew of charges, including criminal mischief, falsely reporting an incident and menacing.
The judge mandated five restraining orders for Farris and set a $10,000 cash bail.
Farris's next court date is Jan. 27.
