A person is allegedly guilty of addressing an 11-year-old girl as she was strolling back from school in Selden.

Law enforcement officers have reported that a man from Lake Grove has been taken into custody for allegedly accosting a juvenile girl who was making her way home from Selden Middle School.

Police report that on Tuesday at roughly 3:25 p.m. an 11-year-old girl was accosted by a man while walking home.

Allegedly, the man advanced on the girl making lewd comments, which caused the youngster to flee to her home. Reportedly, the man drove off in a car, crashing into a pole as he left.

At 8:37 p.m. Tuesday, Zachary Chase was taken into custody at his residence after a police inquiry.

Chase, aged 28 and residing at 20 Commonwealth Ave. in Lake Grove, was accused of endangering the welfare of a child and leaving the site of a motor vehicle crash.
