Police: East Northport father was drunk with 11-month-old daughter in car when he crashed

East Northport, NY

A citizen of East Northport is charged with driving under the influence with his infant daughter in the vehicle on Saturday night.

The authorities stated that at approximately 7 PM, 33-year-old Matthew Gibney crashed his 2021 Hyundai into the back of a Mazda at the crossroads of Elwood Road and Pulaski Road, allegedly in an intoxicated state.

Gibney's infant daughter was present in the car at the time of the accident. Both drivers remained unhurt, yet the 11-month-old had to be transported to Huntington Hospital to be assessed.

Gibney is now being accused of a DWI in contradiction to Leandra's Law as well as of putting a child in danger.
